UV Meeting – July @ Uncivilized Vitality

Every month members of our community come together to learn and practice specific lessons taken from the Uncivilized Vitality lifestyle program of Health & Happiness Optimization. The cost is free for first time attendees and only $24 for repeat visitors. Registration includes any and all take home projects and materials. Membership options available. Rattlesnake Hunt

Jul 15 @ 9:00 am – Jul 18 @ 5:00 pm

This is our big event of the year!!

We will be traveling to Pennsylvania and go on a guided rattlesnake hunt. Each night will be spent at a local hotel, with the entirety of Saturday and Sunday being spent in the field looking for and capturing the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and the Copperhead. We will provide enough hooks, capture tubes, and claws to share. You will be required to bring your own safety gear (gloves and gaters), trail food, and license.

A more detailed list of necessary items to bring and itinerary will be sent upon registration closer to the event.

A suggested minimum donation of $200 for members $250 for non-members. All proceeds go directly towards our non-profit organization the Uncivilized Living Foundation whose mission is “To provide underserved and other populations in need with the unique benefits of outdoor experiences and life lessons from living in Nature”

Seasonal Gear Prep and Garage Sale @ Great Lakes Chiropractic and Movement Center

Sep 10 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

This 2 hour workshop (10:00 AM to noon) is perfect for those looking to learn more about how to prepare for an overnight adventure such as one of our Campaigns.

All too often people just stuff their giant backpacks full of the latest and greatest “tech” only to find that all that stuff diminishes the overall experience.

Dr. Jon D. Morey will go through the different and unconventional ways to efficiently pack your gear, what gear you actually need (and what gear you don’t).

We lead trips right through the Winter, making this an excellent opportunity to waylay your fears about spending the night in the snow!

Following the instructional event from noon to 4:00 PM will be an opportunity to browse the Uncivilized store for your next piece of camping equipment. Have some gear of your own you need to get rid of? Bring it to trade or simply donate!!

All proceeds from this event will go directly to our non-profit, the Uncivilized Living Foundation whose mission “Is to provide underserved and populations in need with the unique benefits of outdoor experiences and the life lessons that come from living in Nature.”

Cost is a suggested minimum donation of $10.

North Manitou Island Trip @ North Manitou Island

Sep 22 @ 6:00 pm – Sep 25 @ 3:00 pm

This is a MEMBERS-ONLY event (including prospective members by invite).

We will be heading up to Traverse City Thursday evening to crash in a hotel so as to be ready for the ferry bright and early Friday morning up in Leeland.

After arriving on the island Friday afternoon we will hike into a place to camp, set up, and spend the rest of the weekend exploring, playing on the dunes, swimming, eating, and having and all around great time.

Small Game Hunt @ Atlanta State Forest

Oct 14 @ 4:00 pm – Oct 16 @ 2:00 pm

Hunter/Gatherers subsisted on meat acquired through their own efforts. Eating animals is a fundamental component of being a Healthy & Happy human.

This themed campaign is designed to introduce and familiarize participants to the acquisition and consumption of wild game.

Friday afternoon will be a short firearm safety and trauma response class. Afterwards we will travel Up North, set up minimalist camp, and spend the rest of the weekend hunting and trapping.

All trapping materials will be provided.

Participants must have their own small game license (https://mdnr-elicense.com/) and supply their own firearm (limit to .22 lr and/or 20 ga).

No experience is necessary and you choose your own level of participation. Explore the different aspects of dispatching and cleaning at your comfort.

Cost is $35 for members and $50 for non-members. Price includes transportation, 2 meals, and all group gear (list of personal items required and allowed will be sent upon registration).

Fieldcraft 101 @ Atlanta State Forest

Nov 4 @ 4:00 pm – Nov 6 @ 2:00 pm

This campaign is designed to introduce participants to both the outdoors and the Uncivilized Vitality program in a fun and comfortable manner.

Led by Dr. Jon D. Morey, participants will explore the basics of Fieldcraft including shelter making, fire building, primitive food preparation, and many others.

Through these experiences one will begin to develop the Lost Abilities: capability, adaptability, and durability. These abilities are the cornerstone of Uncivilized Vitality and enable one to more fully benefit from the Health & Happiness Optimization lifestyle.

We will arrive at camp Friday evening and depart Sunday morning. There will be a short hike into camp so pack accordingly. A detailed list of materials both required and allowed will be sent upon registration.

Registration is $35 for members, $50 for non-members and includes 2 meals, group gear, transportation, and instruction.
